Renault South Africa has revealed a value-added limited edition Duster, set apart by a tougher looks and added functionality.

Renault is calling it the Limited Edition Explore, but before you start planning that overland expedition, bear in mind that it's based on the 1.6 Dynamique 4x2 model, so the tough stuff is purely cosmetic.

The Explore edition is set apart by a Duster-branded nudge bar, unique 16-inch alloy wheels, black wheel arch mouldings and 'Explore' decals to the exterior while the cabin gains a reverse camera. It also comes with the full suite of features already fitted to the Dynamique, including an 18cm touch-screen audio system with navigation, as well as cruise control, electric windows and rear park distance control. Safety comes in the form of six airbags and ABS, but ESP stability control is not fitted.

Motivation is provided by the familiar 1.6-litre normally aspirated engine, rated at 77kW and 148Nm, and powering the front wheels through a five-speed manual gearbox. The Explore is not available with four-wheel drive - for that you'll have to stretch to the range-topping 1.5 dCi model.

Only 100 of the new Limited Edition Dusters are available in South Africa, priced at R258 900, matching the price of the model it's based on. Also included is a five-year/100 000km mechanical warranty and three-year/45 000km service plan.
