Seeking some extra ponies for your Ford? You can now turn your blue-oval car into a quarter-mile king, courtesy of a Roush conversion or Ford Performance Parts upgrade.
The two go-faster brands have set up shop in South Africa and will be serviced initially by a dedicated Ford Performance facility in Centurion and later through certain accredited Ford dealers nationwide.
Roush Performance is new to SA but is well known in the United States under the slogan “Between a race car and a road car is a Roush car!” Its availability here was spurred on by the arrival of the Mustang in right-hand-drive form for the first time.
There are two levels of Roush mods available to muscle up your Mustang 2.3 and three levels for the Mustang 5.0, which hike power anything from 32kW to 194kW, along with cosmetic interior and exterior upgrades. The level three upgrade also comes with a Roush supercharger and a suspension kit.
Under the Ford Performance Parts banner upgrades for other Ford models, including the Ranger, Everest, Fiesta ST and Focus ST are available. Ford Performance Parts offers a range of speed and looks enhancements including superchargers, exhausts, quickshifts, spring kits and spoilers.
Unlike most warranty-voiding performance mods, both Ford Performance Parts and Roush Performance are fully supported by Ford Motor Company. The fitments carry a 3-year/60 000km powertrain warranty on the performance upgrades, while the remainder of the Ford new vehicle warranty will not be voided.
