Nissan's resurrected Datsun brand is expanding and the line-up will soon include a new sedan model designed specifically for Russia.

The official sketch provided by Datsun shows that the new sedan neatly evolves the budget brand's design DNA from the front end, which has angular headlights and a bold chrome-surrounded grille. The side view, however, implies that the sedan will be based on the Russian-designed Lada Granta and this would make some sense given that Lada is now part of the Renault Nissan group.

The new model will be unveiled on 4 April in Moscow. Developed specifically for Russia, the car aims to offer (in Datsun's words): "An engaging driving experience, peace of mind ownership and accessibility at the right and transparent price, with a competitive total cost of ownership."

It remains to be seen whether this model will be sold outside of Russia and our guess is that South Africa and India will instead get a sedan version of the new Go hatchback , which is due to reach our shores later in 2014.
