Goodwood, West Sussex - Many carmakers rev up the end of a car's lifecycle by creating a limited-edition 'run-out' model, but when Rolls-Royce does it the result is something special.

To commemorate the end of the road for the Phantom Coupé and Phantom Drophead Coupé, which will go out of production at the end of 2016, the final 50 examples will go directly to the Bespoke customising shop at Goodwood, where they will become the sumptuously luxurious Phantom Zenith Collection.

In addition to the finest Bespoke materials, finishes and extra features, each will be delivered with two very special accessories.

The first is a numbered metal ingot - a small piece of the Phantom assembly line at Goodwood, which will be dismantled to make way for the upcoming eighth-generation Phantom limousine when these 50 cars are done.

The second is a picnic hamper, made and furnished by the craftsmen and women of the Bespoke division to embody the concept of the picnic as a Very Special Occasion. Each one will be numbered to match the car it was made for, and they will not be offered for sale to other Rolls-Royce customers.

Hospitality suite

Each Phantom Zenith Collection picnic hamper is made from solid American walnut and natural grain leather in the same choice of three colour combinations as the trim options of the cars themselves. They include red leather with black piping, dark blue with white piping, and classic black with pale grey piping, as on the 1911 Silver Ghost.

The top stitching of the leather, as well as a contrasting inset in the lid, matches the inside of the car's split tailgate, which opens to create a hosting area complete with a cooler box, an illuminated glass shelf and a leather seat for two.

Two picnic tables, finished in piano black, fold out from the hamper on hinges carved from solid blocks of aluminium, and each hamper is furnished with specially made plates decorated around the edges with platinum and black enamel, as well as lead crystal wine glasses, handmade stainless-steel cutlery, napkins embroidered with the Rolls-Royce monogram and a handmade American walnut chopping board.
