Veneno: Lamborghini's 552kW porn star

GENEVA MOTOR SHOW - Lamborghini has given itself an enthralling 50th anniversary present by unleashing one its most outrageous supercar creations to date.

It goes by the name of Veneno - named, in the Lamborghini tradition, after one of the fastest fighting bulls ever - and only three of these automotive porn stars will ever see the light of day.

It's essentially a racing prototype that's been homologated for the road and it'll hit the streets with a 6.5-litre V12 that's credited with 552kW, which is 37kW more than the Aventador can muster.

2.8 SECONDS TO 100

Shifting its power to all wheels via a seven-speed ISR gearbox with five driving modes, the Veneno will allegedly screech from 0-100km/h in just 2.8 seconds and hit a top end of 355km/h.

Naturally, it's kitted out with a racing chassis with pushrod suspension and horizontal spring/damper units.

It also weighs about the same as a compact sedan, 1450kg, thanks to carbon-fibre reinforced polymer monocoque chassis unit and outer body as well as an interior that uses Lamborghini-patented materials such as Forged Composite and CarbonSkin.

The Veneno's styling may be pure porn star, but there's actually a big aerodynamic method to the madness. The entire front end, for instance, works as a large aerodynamic wing, while the side profile has been optimised to direct airflow to the large engine-cooling intakes. At the rear you'll see a large diffuser housing four large exhaust pipes, as well as engine vents that cool the engine and control the way the air hits the large rear wing.

Also super-gluing it to the ground is a set of 21-inch alloy wheels at the back end; the front running on 20-inch rims.
