Pretoria - The 2015 Extreme Festival series achieved a finale of heroic proportions on Saturday at Zwartkops Raceway as more than 300 competitors contested 27 races in a marathon programme that also saw most of the season's titles decided.

PRODUCTION CARS

The most important of those - the very last National Production Car championship under the current rules - went to Hennie Groenewald, who clinched overall honours in his Sasol Audi S4, with Michael Stephen of the rival Engen Xtreme Audi squad as runner-up.

Groenewald won the opening race and Stephen the second. Then, in the final, Groenewald took a narrow victory to write the title behind his name.

EXTREME SUPERCARS

Toby Venter (Porsche GT2B) won both races, with Charl Arangies (Lamborghini) second in the morning and Jaki Scheckter (Ferrari F340) second in the afternoon's outing.

VW CUP

Teenager Sheldon van der Linde took the 2015 title by scoring a second and a third on the day, while Tasmin Pepper and Bradley Liebenberg took a race win apiece.

SUPERHATCH

Andre de Lange (Ford Fiesta) took the season's overall and Class C titles, while Class A went to Hilton van Nieuwenhuizen and his Citroen C2, and Class B to Morne Human (VW Golf). scooping up the year's Class B accolade.

KAWASAKI MASTERS

Graeme van Breda arrived at Zwartkops with the title already nailed down, and proceeded to hammer home the message by winning the category's single 20-lap race, from Johan le Roux and Stuart Russell.

Daryn Upton (Kawasaki) clinched the Thunderbike title with a third place in the opening race, coming home behind Dean Vos (Kawasaki) and Greg Gildenhuys (BMW). The second race was won by Garrick Vlok (BMW), ahead of Vos and Upton.

FORMULA 1600

Robert Wolk (Mygale) clinched the title by scoring points in each of the day's races, although Dewald Brummer (Mygale) won both, followed by Keagan Masters (Mygale) in each case.

SPORTS AND SALOON CARS

Adrian Dalton (Golf Turbo), won both races, with Jeff Langeveldt (Honda CRX) second in Race 1 and George Bezuidenhout (Nissan Primera) second in Race 2.

FORMULA VEE

Alan Holm won both of the day's races with Peter Hills and Brad Benningfield taking turns as runner-up.

NATIONAL SPORTS CAR CHALLENGE

Veteran Rui Campos debuted his new V8-powered Shelby CanAm sports car and promptly won the first of the day's Sports Car Challenge races ahead of Neil Lobb (Shelby). Jason Campos took over the new car in Race 2 - and it beat Lobb again!
