There is a treat in store for South Africa’s supercar owners with the creation of a new event on next year’s social calendar, the Rogue Rally.

It’s a road trip that will cover more than 2500km of South Africa’s best roads. Along the way the supercars will encounter special stages and events that will give owners the opportunity to enjoy the cars as the designers intended them to be used.

The event takes place on June 16-22 2013, and the special stages include track days, high speed runs on Hakskeen Pan and a mountain stage.

Mark Castel, chief executive officer of BAM, the augmented reality, event and activation company that owns the Rogue Rally, says: “We are giving owners of supercars the chance to use the cars to their full potential.

“What is the use of paying R4 million for a car and never finding out what it feels like to travel at 300km/h?”

Entry is limited to 50 cars, with one passenger allowed for each car.

“To date we have confirmed a Lamborghini Gallardo, a Ferrari Scaglietti 612, two McLaren MP4-12Cs, a special edition Nissan GT-R, an Aston Martin Vanquish, a Mercedes-Benz SLS, Lamborghini Aventador, Ford Shelby GT500 and a Porsche 911 Turbo, to name a few,” says Castel.

Ticket prices are R47 500 and a supercar is mandatory.

The event is being filmed for a six-part television series to be broadcast in September.
