Hong Kong - After a successful pre-season test at Sepang International Circuit in January, KC Motorgroup has announced that 2013 Formula BMW Asia Cup champion Matthew Swanepoel will drive for the team in Formula Masters China Series in this year.

KCMG Deputy Managing Director John O'Hara said: Matthew's speed and intelligence were very evident in his Sepang test and we're confident that he'll be a frontrunner from the first round."

STEADY PROGRESS

Swanepoel, 19, began racing karts in 2001 and became a national and regional karting champion after successful campaigns in the KwaZulu-Natal Karting championship and the South African Rotax Max Challenge in 2010. The following year, Swanepoel's impressive performance in the 2011 Supakarts National championship earned him the Super Rok crown.

Since stepping up to single-seater racing, Swanepoel has maintained his steady progress and finished the 2013 season of Formula BMW Asia Cup Series as overall champion. This year, he is looking forward to racing in the Volkswagen-powered Asian entry-level formula series.

The 2014 Formula Masters' season will start on May 11 at Zhuhai International Circuit, China.
