Ever wonder what happens to used Stigs? After all, there can't be too many openings for people whose only qualification is driving like a loon while wearing a white helmet with a one-way visor and listening to classical music.

In Ben Collins' case - he who was fired from Top Gear for publishing a book called 'The man in the white suit', which the BBC notoriously tried to block - he went back to what he does best.

Stunt driving.

Collins has always been a stunt driver, even when he was still a full-timer soldier, juggling film shoots, racing and Top Gear recordings between his military duties.

It's safe to say the man is an adrenalin junkie.

He's worked on a number of action blockbusters, including the James Bond films Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace, and has most recently been seen in Istanbul, crashing cars on the set of the latest instalment in the franchise, Skyfall.

The stunt involved running a Land Rover into the side of an Audi, which sounds pretty straightforward (except of course, for the Audi) - only Collins was driving from a cage on the roof while a camera mounted on the left side of the Landy filmed the entire crash as it happened, through the driver's window.

According to The Mirror, they wrote off no less than 15 of the R450 000 Audis in rehearsals and filming - including one that flipped and landed upside down in a market stall. The Land Rover, apparently, survived.
