Algiers - Thirty Algerian workers managed to escape on Thursday from a gas facility in Algeria where they were being held by Islamist extremists along with dozens of Westerners, national media reported.

“Thirty Algerian workers managed to escape on Thursday from the Tinguentourine gas facility, where they had been held hostage since Wednesday by an armed terrorist group,” the APS news agency said, citing local officials. - Sapa-AFP
