Tunisia's Prime Minister-designate Ali Larayedh leaves after a news conference in Tunis.

Tunis - Tunisia's new government, led by the moderate Islamist Ennahda party, won a confidence vote in the National Constituent Assembly on Wednesday.

Prime Minister Ali Larayedh has said the government, which was backed by 139 of the assembly's 217 members, would serve only until an election later in the year.

His predecessor, Hamadi Jebali, resigned following the February 6 assassination of secular politician Chokri Belaid, which provoked the worst unrest in Tunisia since the uprising that overthrew President Zine al-Abidine Ben Ali two years ago. - Reuters
