Cairo - Torrential flooding has swept away a bus in southern Egypt, killing five schoolgirls, their driver and a companion, a security official said on Thursday.
Three other schoolgirls are among four people missing following the incident, which occurred on Wednesday.
Separately, police have closed off six roads connecting Cairo with the Red Sea governorate in the east and with southern Egypt because of the heavy rains, which began on Tuesday, the official MENA news agency reported.
