Crash victims identified

Three of the 10 people killed in a crash near Makhado have been identified, Zimbabwe's The Herald Online reported on Thursday.

“So far we have managed to identify three Zimbabweans through their passports, though we are still withholding their names,” said Zimbabwe's consul general to South Africa Godfrey Magwenzi.

They were travelling in a minibus which was on its way to Chipinge in Zimbabwe from South Africa on Tuesday, when it collided with a heavy duty truck.

The truck driver, a Zambian, had also been identified. A young boy on board the minibus was believed to be from the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Relatives had been making enquiries with the police and were expected to arrive in South Africa to help with the identification.

It was reported earlier this week that most of the injured were taken to either the Louis Trichardt Memorial Hospital or the Elin Hospital in Makhado. – Sapa
