Yaounde - Five Cameroonian soldiers were killed when their vehicle hit explosives placed on a road by suspected members of the Nigerian Islamist group Boko Haram, the newspaper Le Jour reported on Wednesday.

Three soldiers were wounded in the blast, which took place in the north near the Nigerian border on Tuesday.

On October 31, one soldier was killed in a similar explosion in the same region.

Military sources said the explosions were evidence of Boko Haram changing its tactics in Cameroon.

Members of the group “have tried unsuccessfully to face Cameroonian soldiers ... and are now resorting to placing explosives (in) our way,” an unnamed military source was quoted as saying.
