Tripoli - Unknown gunmen killed a former Libyan air force colonel in the eastern city of Benghazi on Tuesday, a military spokesman told AFP.
The assailants “opened fire on the car of Colonel Badr Khamis al-Abidi who was shot in the head,” Ali al-Shaykhi said.
The attack on Abidi, who had served under slain dictator Moamer Kadhafi, took place in Benghazi's Hawari district.
The shooting is the latest in a series of attacks in the east of the country on security officials of the Kadhafi regime which was ousted in an uprising that began in Benghazi. - Sapa-AFP
