Port Harcourt, Nigeria - Gunmen in Nigeria kidnapped two German men in the Opec member's south-eastern Abia state, two security sources said on Sunday.
This is the second abduction of foreigners in oil-producing Abia state in the past 10 days.
"Two Germans were kidnapped at Azumini beach by the Imo River in Abia state this evening," a security source said.
Police could not immediately be reached for comment. The German Foreign Ministry said it aware of the reports of the kidnapping and was looking into the incident.
Four Syrian and Lebanese construction workers were kidnapped on April 9 and released five days later in Abia state.
Kidnappings for ransom are common in the Niger Delta, home to Africa's biggest oil and gas industries, with hundreds of incidents reported each year. Most are released unharmed after a couple of days. - Reuters
