A spokesman for the M23 rebel group in the Democratic Republic of Congo called on Wednesday for President Joseph Kabila to step down, saying he was not the legitimate winner of elections last year.

“Mr Kabila must go because he did not win last year's election,” M23 spokesman Viannay Jazarama told a crowd gathered at a stadium in Goma, the strategic eastern city seized by the rebels on Tuesday. - AFP
