Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe
Harare - A Zimbabwean lawmaker has been expelled from President Robert Mugabe's Zanu-PF party for calling the 87-year-old leader “old”, the party announced Thursday.
Tracy Mutinhiri now risks losing her parliamentary seat for the Marondera East constituency, and her position as deputy labour minister in the power-sharing government.
“It was unanimously agreed that she should be dismissed from the party with immediate effect,” Zanu-PF spokesperson Rugare Gumbo was by the official Herald daily as saying.
Mutinhiri was charged with being disloyal to Zanu-PF, and bringing the party into disrepute. She is alleged to have told party members in Mashonaland East province that former opposition leader and current premier, Morgan Tsvangirai, would be the next president as “President Mugabe was old”.
She was also accused of failing to attend party meetings and of failing to discharge her duties as a party representative. Gumbo said the politburo took the decision to expel Mutinhiri on the recommendation of the Zanu-PF national disciplinary committee.
Mugabe has been in power for 31 years. He still wields most of the authority in a two-year-old power sharing government with Tsvangirai's Movement for Democratic Change. - Sapa-dpa

Anonymous at 01:19pm. Wrong, land to the people would cause starvation and the need to import food. It's time to start using the skills of those who have them. Giving does not supply a solution, it merely continues the need for a hand-out society. Teach, teach, teach. That is the only solution.

Re TMI - yes it was right to fire her, it all starts with small things until these small things become the biggest problem like Malema. Root it out before it spreads.

Chef Charles finds this specific article rather unflattering as it somehow mirrors the journalistic art of sensationalising a story. The results achieved here is that an evidently monotonous article on a Zimbabwean Politician who is on the verge losing their position in Zimbabwean politics for allegedly being disloyal to Zanu-PF, and bringing the party into disrepute, is now opportunely exaggerated. The telltale topic should ideally therefore read; 'Tracy Mutinhiri faces possible expulsion from Zanu PF' however it now, obviously for sake of achieving public appeal, the headline conveniently reads,' Mugabe old? Never…' Interesting, Isn’t it ?

DangerMan, whatever it is you are smoking, it is very strong boet. You agree that Uncle Bob is old, which should make it the truth in your eyes, how then do you agree with an expulsion for telling the truth? I think you need a check up from the neck up!

I agree he is old.. I admire the fact that, they fire ill disciplined party members. Thats the way to go, ANC should follow Old Bob's footsteps(not all of them).

It's ignorant to talk about the gaddaffi treatment as the Libya situation was a European and American financed war backed by their military.

Because they haven't anything yet to show the contrary, seems the Zimababeans are very happy with their old Mugabe despot. Zim TV shows Zimbabweans hailing Mugabe as their hero. So they don't need help from South Africans and perhaps Zimbos should go home tho their motherland and help build it instead of sponging off South Africa.

Its time the Zimbabweans did a "Libiya" on old man Bob. He's definitely not young or middle aged. Now's the time to go for your freedom in your OWN COUNTRY.

Every time I see something like this about Mugabe, I think of Oscar Wilde's story of Dorian Grey, who made a pact with the devil to retain his youthful looks...

I agree, this man is a spring chicken maan, how dare this woman call such a sweet 16 an old man? We will start saying he is old only when he hits 120 yrs.

It is high time that Zimbabweans must act agianst the old man (Mugabe). Flocking to the neighbouring countries is not a solution for Zimbabweans. Libya has paved a way of how difficult leaders are dealt with. Come on Zibabweans be liberated from suffering of Mugabe.
