Jos - Clashes between Muslim and Christian ethnic groups in central Nigeria have killed as least 12 people, a spokesman for the state governor said on Thursday, with houses also burned.

“You can say 12 people were killed,” Ayuba Pam, a spokesman for Plateau governor Jonah Jang, told reporters of the clashes that began on Wednesday night and continued into Thursday. A military spokesman had earlier spoken of “enormous” destruction, with houses burned and people killed. - Sapa-AFP
