Johannesburg -

The South African government conveys its condolences to the government and people of Kenya and to the families of the victims of ongoing terrorist attacks, the Department of International Co-operation said on Thursday.

“The South African government reiterates its condemnation of all forms and manner of terrorism. Terrorism, in any form and from whichever quarter, cannot be condoned,” said spokesman Clayson Monyela.

He said South Africa condemned the recent cowardly attacks in the coastal resort town of Mpeketoni.

“These heinous acts of terror against innocent civilians don't serve any purpose and will only contribute to further instability and ethnic animosity.”

He said South Africa would continue to support the efforts of the Kenyan government to fight terrorism and in promoting inter-ethnic harmony and national reconciliation. - Sapa
