The military chief of the M23 rebels in the Democratic Republic of Congo, General Sultani Makenga, on Friday accused UN peacekeeping troops of blocking their withdrawal from Goma.

The withdrawal from the key eastern city “was planned for tomorrow (Saturday), but MONUSCO (the UN mission in DR Congo) is beginning to block the movement... They are blocking the recovery of our logistics. We are waiting for the problem to be solved to withdraw,” Makenga told AFP from the town of Sake, west of Goma. - Sapa-AFP
