Dar es Salaam - President Jacob Zuma arrived in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, for a Southern African Development Community (SADC) extraordinary troika summit on Thursday, his office said.

“The summit is expected to consider reports on the recent developments in Madagascar, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Zimbabwe,” presidential spokesman Mac Maharaj said in a statement.

Zuma, who was leading the South African government's delegation, was supported by International Relations Minister Maite Nkoana-Mashabane.

Tanzania chairs the SADC organ tasked with politics, defence, security and co-operation. SADC chair, Mozambique, would also participate.

Maharaj said the meeting would provide an opportunity for the countries' leaders to be briefed on the implementation of decisions made at the last extraordinary SADC summit, which was held last month. - Sapa
