Pretoria - President Jacob Zuma will travel to Angola on Monday to take part in a regional mini summit, the international relations department said.

He is expected to be part of the International Conference of African Great Lakes Region (ICGLR) summit in Luanda on Tuesday, spokesman Clayson Monyela said in a statement.

In the last summit held earlier this year, a committee of heads of states was established.

The committee was made up of Angola, Uganda, Rwanda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, said Monyela.

South Africa was invited to analyse the measures to neutralise the negative forces existing in the east of the DRC and to implement them.

“South Africa is a signatory to the peace, security and co-operation framework for the DRC, and is a member of the regional oversight mechanism, as well as a major troop contributing country,” he said.
