Blantyre - President Jacob Zuma arrived in Lilongwe, Malawi, on Friday for the 33rd Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) heads of state and government summit, the presidency said.
The summit would take place on Saturday and Sunday with Zuma also expected to take part in the SADC organ troika summit prior to the SADC summit, spokesman Mac Maharaj said in a statement.
The organ troika on politics, defence, and security co-operation comprises Namibia, South Africa, and Tanzania.
The political and socio-economic situation in the region would be one of the issues discussed at the summit.
Zuma was accompanied by International Relations and Co-operation Minister Maite Nkoana-Mashabane, Defence Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula, Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan, and Trade and Industry Minister Rob Davies.
