Pretoria - President Jacob Zuma will host Lesotho Prime Minister Motsoahae Thomas Thabane, the Presidency said on Wednesday.

Thabane will be accompanied on his visit by the ministers of foreign affairs, energy, trade, finance, and home affairs.

The meeting will take place on Thursday in Pretoria.

“The meeting takes place in the context of promoting the African agenda, strengthening relations, and increasing trade and investment.”

The two countries recently agreed on the construction of the second phase of the Lesotho Highlands Water Project.

The project has been in operation for over 20 years and supplies South Africa with around 780 million cubic metres of water per annum.

“When fully operational, the second phase of the project will substantially increase water supply to South Africa.”

South African companies have a presence in Lesotho in various sectors, such as housing, food and beverages, construction, retail, hotels and leisure, banking, and medical services.

The ministers of international relations and cooperation, trade and industry, water and environmental affairs, energy, home affairs, and finance will also attend the meeting with Zuma. - Sapa
