A couple scooped £1million on EuroMillions - with a ticket that had been stuck on their fridge for more than two months.

Alan and Kim Elliot walked past the ticket every day, unaware it was the winner of a draw held in March.

They only discovered they had struck lucky last Friday when building worker Mr Elliot, 46, of Aspley, Nottingham, took several old tickets to his local newsagent to be checked.

The couple have missed out on around £7 500 (R99 200) in interest by not banking their win at the time. But they said they weren’t going to let that worry them – and now plan to splash out on holidays and a Range Rover.

Mr Elliot said: ‘It was just sitting under a fridge magnet. It’s bizarre.’

His wife added: ‘It’s so strange that the ticket was under our noses all that time. I wish Alan had checked sooner.’ - Daily Mail
