London -

A knife-wielding thug was caught minutes after robbing his local Tesco store because he had boasted about his plans on Facebook.

Andrew Hennells posted an entry which read: “Doing. Tesco. Over.” He attached a picture of the weapon.

A member of the public tipped off police and armed officers raced to the scene.

But they discovered Hennells had fled minutes earlier, after threatening terrified staff with a knife and stealing £410.

However, he was found at a pub near the supermarket in King’s Lynn, Norfolk.

Police surrounded the building and Hennells, 31, was arrested.

The knife and cash were found in a car.

Appearing at Norwich Crown Court via video link from Norwich Prison, he admitted robbing the store last month and having an offensive weapon

Judge Katherine Moore adjourned sentence until April 8 for reports and remanded Hennells, of Gaywood, Norfolk, in custody.
