Colombo - A man accused of sexual assault on a woman was sentenced to a one-year Rigorous Imprisonment term after he let out a loud yawn while the court was in progress in a southern Sri Lanka town, a local newspaper said on Tuesday.
The suspect, NVP Ajith, had stretched out and yawned while the magistrate was taking up his case in the courts at Walasmulla, 280km south-east of the capital, the Island newspaper said.
The court session was disturbed by the man's yawn, the newspaper said.
The judge passed down the sentence of one year in prison, while the accused's case of sexual assault is due to be taken up on another day. - Sapa-dpa
