A biography of Vladimir Putin claims he has homosexual tendencies and his best friends are his dogs.

Moscow political scientist Stanislav Belkovsky has outraged the Kremlin with his book Putin, which portrays the Russian president as a pathetic weakling.

He claimed that Kremlin PR stories about Putin’s sexual prowess and an affair with a beautiful athlete were invented to conceal that “sex and a sex life are alien” or even that he is “latently gay”.

Belkovsky said Putin’s childhood set the tone for his life, adding: “The small Vladimir was a withdrawn and grim child, born the son of an alcoholic two years before his official birth date.”

Putin was raised by a couple who were not his parents and has spent his life looking for a “surrogate family”, Belkovsky said.

On Tuesday night, Putin’s spokesman dismissed the book as “total rubbish”. - Daily Mail
