Cape Town - Cape Town’s latest celebrity, Alen Abrahams, is going to Dubai to meet the woman responsible for his fame.

When Stacey-Lee Roberts loaded on YouTube the video of him singing on Long Street during the 2010 Soccer World Cup, she had no idea how it would change the thencar guard’s life.

After the YouTube video’s number of hits reached 500 000, the staff at Heart 104.9FM and Cape Town International Airport decided to give Abrahams a trip to Dubai where Roberts works.

He also caught the eye of the international music industry when his song Meisie (a parody of Justin Bieber’s Baby) was removed by YouTube on the grounds of copyright infringement. The notice has since been dismissed.

Deidre Davids, communications manager of the Airports Company South Africa, said: “Like most of Cape Town we were completely charmed by Alen and the story he had to tell.”
