London - All 80 residents of a tiny Spanish village have just become millionaires - because they live in the tiny hamlet that was the birthplace of beer billionaire Antonino Fernández.

Fernández emigrated from Cerezales del Condado to Mexico in 1949, when he was 32, and went on to become the boss of Grupo Modelo, the brewery company which makes Corona.

He died in August this year, aged 99, leaving £169 million to the residents of Cerezales, the village in Leon province where he was born into grinding poverty.

After marrying and then emigrating, he started work in the warehouse at Grupo Modelo. By 1971 he had risen to CEO, and helped make Corona Mexico’s most popular beer and a huge export success.
