It’s been a vintage year for that most reviled of species - the love rat.
While the likes of footballer Peter Crouch and Take That's Howard Donald hit the headlines for womanising, we've decided to focus on the many, many married personalities who played away. Tiger Woods, Ronan Keating, Wayne Rooney, Ashley Cole...the list goes on and on, not forgetting Iris Robinson.
Here we take a look at the love rats who were exposed in 2010 ...
TONY PARKER
OTHER HALF AT THE TIME: Actress Eva Longoria Parker
WHAT HAPPENED? Eva adored her husband and their life together seemed idyllic.
But in November it emerged that basketball star Tony had been playing away - with his former San Antonio Spurs team-mate Brent Barry's wife. Eva found hundreds of texts on Tony's mobile from Erin Barry. She also revealed that he cheated on her earlier in their marriage with a different woman, whom he kept in touch with via Facebook.
NOW? It seems as though there is no going back for wronged Eva. She tweeted: “It is with great sadness that after seven years together, Tony and I have decided to divorce.”
JESSE JAMES
OTHER HALF AT THE TIME: Oscar-winning actress Sandra Bullock
WHAT HAPPENED? Everything was going well for Sandra at the start of 2010 - she had critical acclaim for her part in The Blindside, scooping Best Actress Oscar for it.
But her world came crashing down when she found out Jesse, her hubby of five years, had cheated on her with tattooed stripper Michelle McGee.
Sandra - who credited Jesse with restoring her faith in men, marriage and relationships in general - fled from her Californian marital home.
NOW? Sandra filed for divorce in June and she will now be concentrating on being a single mother to her adopted little boy, Louis.
VERNON KAY
OTHER HALF AT THE TIME: Telly presenter Tess Daly
WHAT HAPPENED? In February married TV presenter Kay admitted he exchanged racy texts and Twitter messages with 23-year-old glamour model Rhian Sugden. He claimed not to have slept with the Page 3 blonde but wife Tess Daly, mother of his two children, was not impressed by that.
Shamed Kay, 35, came clean that he also had text-sex with five other women.
He said: “I've let down my wife Tess.”
NOW? The couple have stayed together and are rebuilding their marriage. He said: “We're working through it.”
MARK OWEN
OTHER HALF AT THE TIME: Wife and mother to his two children Emma Ferguson
WHAT HAPPENED? In March Mark sensationally confessed to having 10 affairs while he was dating Emma before they married in 2009. “Squeaky clean” singer Mark, 38, admitted he had been unfaithful with several women during his relationship with Emma Ferguson, the mother of his children.
But he insisted he had been faithful since marrying Ms Ferguson.
In a statement he said: “I'm so deeply sorry for the pain my actions have caused my family and friends.”
The multi-millionaire singer blamed a long battle with booze for his two-timing.
Days later he checked himself in to rehab to sort out his demons once and for all.
NOW? After a brief separation Emma took Mark back and they are now living together as a family with their children.
ASHLEY COLE
OTHER HALF AT THE TIME: Pop beauty and X Factor judge Cheryl Cole
WHAT HAPPENED? X Factor judge Cheryl, 26, married the Chelsea footballer in 2006 and at first it seemed like a match made in celebrity heaven. Cheryl had stood by Ashley after he cheated on her with a hairdresser - until February when dirty photos sent by Chelsea defender Ashley to a string of women emerged in the tabloids.
NOW? The couple have divorced and her career continues to head into the stratosphere (she's off to the States to become a judge on the US X Factor).
Ashley is rumoured to be dating blonde Playboy bunny Kayla Collins from I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Outta Here!
TIGER WOODS
OTHER HALF AT THE TIME: Elin Woods
WHAT HAPPENED? Tiger Woods, who had an image as a squeaky clean golfer, and Swedish model Elin Nordegren, 29, were married for five years and have two young kids.
But a story emerged that Woods, 33, had an affair with nightclub manager Rachel Uchitel.
Then cocktail waitress Jaimee Grubbs claimed that she had a two-and-a-half-year affair with Woods, producing voice and text messages that he'd left her. After that, more than a dozen women claimed they'd had affairs with Tiger. The disgraced golf pro headed to rehab for sex addiction and vowed to mend his family before he returned to the golf course.
NOW? Woods went on TV and apologised for the hurt his behaviour caused to his family, friends, fans, and business partners.
But for Elin it was too late. They headed for the divorce courts and she netted $750m in return for her silence. Tiger's golf game, meanwhile, hasn't been the same since the exposé.
JOHN TERRY
OTHER HALF AT THE TIME: WAG Toni Terry
WHAT HAPPENED? John Terry married Toni Poole in 2007, but in January 2010 it emerged that Terry had had a four-month affair in late 2009 with Vanessa Perroncel, the former girlfriend of Wayne Bridge, his former Chelsea and England team-mate. Terry - stripped of the national team captaincy in the aftermath - jetted out for an emotional reunion in Dubai with his wife and two kids two weeks after the scandal broke.
NOW? The Terrys are apparently back on track and Toni claimed: “We're stronger than ever.”
WAYNE ROONEY
OTHER HALF AT THE TIME: Fashionista and queen WAG Colleen Rooney
WHAT HAPPENED? Everything seemed perfect for the Rooneys as they went in to 2010, having just celebrated the birth of baby Kai.
But by September their marital bliss was shattered when Wayne was exposed as having paid for secret hotel sex sessions with £1,000-a-night prostitute Jennifer Thompson, 21, while his childhood sweetheart and wife Colleen was pregnant with their son.
NOW? After initial fears from Wayne that Colleen would finally throw him out it seems as though they are, once more, working through their problems.
LIZ HURLEY
OTHER HALF AT THE TIME: Tycoon Arun Nayar
WHAT HAPPENED? Liz was pictured locking lips with cricket badboy Shane Warne and their fling was exposed.
She insists her marriage to Hubby Arun Nayar was over well before she started seeing the brash Aussie, who divorced long-suffering wife Simone five years ago after he had affairs.
NOW? Liz has said her marriage is over but the relationship between Liz and Warne is still alive and they could go a few more overs yet.
RONAN KEATING
OTHER HALF AT THE TIME: Yvonne Keating
WHAT HAPPENED? Boyzone singer Ronan married sweetheart Yvonne in 1998.
But after 12 years of marriage Ronan was exposed as having cheated on the mum of his three children with one of his backing dancers, Francine Cornell.
NOW? Not all hope has been lost in the Keating home for a reconciliation between Yvonne and Ronan.
IRIS ROBINSON
OTHER HALF AT THE TIME: First Minister Peter Robinson
WHAT HAPPENED? The powerhouse couple were the biggest partnership in local politics. But in January this year that was shattered by one of the biggest scandals Northern Ireland has ever known. It emerged that Iris had cheated on Peter with then 19-year-old businessman Kirk MCambley two years ago.
During their affair, former Strangford MP Iris, 61, helped secure £50,000 in loans from property developers to help Kirk open The Lockeepers Inn.
She retired from politics before receiving “acute psychiatric treatment” in the wake of the scandal.
NOW? Despite losing his Westminster seat and calls for him to resign as First Minister, Peter weathered the storm and is still in the top job at Stormont.
He has stood by his wife, who is at home and still receiving treatment, as they rebuild their marriage. - The Independent
