Cape Town - The Cape Peninsula University of Technology announced the suspension of all university activities across its campuses.

This follows a series of meetings on Monday between management and students as well as insourced workers.

The university in a statement said, following these meetings, acting Vice-Chancellor Dr Chris Nhlapo consulted with the Chair of Council and, in the interests of the safety of staff and students, agreed to suspend all university activities.

"This includes classes and work for Tuesday July 25 and Wednesday July 26. Council will hold an emergency meeting on Wednesday to discuss the issue of insourced workers and their contracts."
