A man was killed and another was injured when they were attacked while walking in Florida, on the West Rand, on Tuesday morning, paramedics said.
The injured man called for help from local residents, who alerted paramedics, said ER24 spokeswoman Vanessa Jackson.
They got there to find the other man had died. He had lost a lot of blood, she said.
The men were walking along Main Reef Road, near Westlake, at the time of the attack.
Police would not give details of what happened for fear of the safety of the injured man.
