Johannesburg - More than 22 pedestrians were arrested in and around Gauteng on Sunday for walking on the province's freeways, Gauteng traffic police said.
“As Gauteng traffic police we have decided to intensify our pedestrian operations and today (Sunday) we arrested more than 22
pedestrians on Gauteng province freeways,” said spokeswoman Busaphi Nxumalo.
“We are tired of picking up bodies on our roads, and there are more still to be arrested.”
She urged motorists to drive carefully and exercise patience, with many people still returning to the province following the festive season.
“Arrive alive, and know that speed kills,” she said. -Sapa
