Limpopo - Three men accused of raping and killing an 83-year-old woman appeared in the Tiyani Magistrate's Court on Wednesday, Limpopo police said.

The case against Happy Mohale, 24, Stanley Zwidofhela Mugwena, 27, and Thomas Serepa, 29, was postponed to Friday, Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi said in a statement.

For logistical reasons the matter was moved to the Tshitale Magistrate's Court.

Mojaji Sebyene, from Sereni village outside Makhado, was attacked and killed on Saturday. Her alleged attackers were arrested on Tuesday.

“They allegedly forced their way into her room and demanded money. They then dragged her to nearby bushes where they allegedly raped and assaulted her,” Mulaudzi said at the time.

They left her in the bushes, returned to her house and set it alight.

Neighbours who noticed the flames rushed to her house.

“They found her in a very bad condition,” said Mulaudzi.

She was admitted to the Elim Hospital where she died.
