Four men accused of robbing a jewellery store and wounding three people, including a toddler, appeared briefly in the Randburg Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.

Levert Ndou, Thulane Madondo, Ian Mncube, and Thabo Dlamini will be back in court on July 20.

They face three charges of attempted murder, possession of stolen property, possession of an unlicensed firearm, reckless and negligent driving, and armed robbery.

They allegedly held staff and customers at gunpoint at a jewellery store at Randridge Mall.

They stole jewellery and opened fire as they ran away, wounding a toddler, his grandmother, and another man.

A police officer was also wounded during a shoot-out with the robbers while the police were chasing them. – Sapa
