Five people were killed when a car crashed into the donkey cart they were riding on on the N18 between Mahikeng and Vryburg, the North West safety department said on Monday.
Spokesman Lesiba Moses Kgwele said an Opel Kadett hit the donkey cart from the rear on Sunday night, as the cart had no reflectors.
“Three children aged five, an 18-year-old girl and 30-year-old man, all of whom were passengers on the donkey cart that was from Madibogo, died on the spot,” he said.
He said the driver of the Opel and the driver of the donkey cart were slightly injured. - Sapa
