Pietermaritzburg - A 66-year-old woman has been wounded in a shooting at her Pietermaritzburg home, KwaZulu-Natal paramedics said on Saturday.

“Paramedics arrived at the house and found the elderly female to have been critically wounded,” Netcare 911 spokesman Chris Botha said.

“After they stabilised her at the scene, paramedics transported her to a local hospital for the care that she required.”

The shooting happened at her Darjeeling Road home around midnight on Friday.

It was unknown who had shot her, said Botha.

Police were investigating.
