Cape Town - Seven people were arrested during Operation Fiela in the gang affected area of Hanover Park in Cape Town on Thursday, Western Cape police said.

Lieutenant Colonel Andrè Traut said during the operation 101 premises, 25 vehicles and 305 people were searched resulting in the seven arrests.

“One female was arrested for being in possession of illegal ammunition and fifteen 9mm rounds, 38 home-made rounds and an ammunition press were confiscated,” he said.

Traut said another woman was arrested for illegally possessing 23 South African Social Security Agency cards, nine bank cards and six identity documents.

“Three males were arrested for the possession of drugs, one wanted suspect was arrested on a drug related charge and a female was arrested for the possession of housebreaking implements.”

A variety of drugs, namely dagga, heroin, tik and mandrax, were seized, he said.

The seven were expected to appear in court soon.
