Abducted teen found murdered

Johannesburg - The body of an abducted teenage girl was found lying in the bushes in Matikoxikaya, near Phalaborwa, Limpopo police said on Saturday.

The 18-year-old was abducted at her home early Friday morning while she was sleeping, Lt-Col Mohale Ramatseba said.

“It is alleged two suspects broke into the house at about 3am in the morning and kidnapped 1/8abducted 3/8 the victim. She was allegedly assaulted.”

Ramatseba said at the time of the abduction, the girl's parents were not home.

“The girl's one-year-old was at the house as well as another teenager who can't give us information because she is mute,” said Ramatseba.

A search of the area was conducted and her body was found in the bushes at about 4pm on Friday.

“She was allegedly strangled as she was having no visible wounds.”

Police were not ruling out that the girl could have been raped before being killed.

No arrests have been made and police called for anyone with information to come forward. - Sapa
