Cape Town - Award-winning actor Terence Bridgett is back at work after he was attacked in Knysna on Monday.
The UCT drama graduate is known for roles in soapies 7de Laan and Isidingo.
He arrived in the town at the weekend to work on a new film, Knysna.
Southern Cape police spokesman Captain Bernadine Steyn said on Tuesday that Bridgett, 39, was in a guest house in Circular Drive when two men broke in soon after midnight and attacked him while he was sleeping.
“Several items were taken from the house, including an iPhone, bank cards, wine and a black leather wallet. The victim sustained injuries and was admitted to a hospital in Knysna for medical assistance,” said Steyn.
“One of the suspects was dressed in a blue tracksuit. Nobody has been arrested yet.”
Bridgett’s agent Carlynn de Waal-Smit told the Cape Argus the two men hit and strangled Bridgett until he lost consciousness.
TV personality Sade Giliberti tweeted: “Sending love & light to Terence Bridgett. Hope you recover soon. And to the people who attacked you, I hope they get what’s coming to them.”
