Johannesburg – Johannesburg Central police have arrested a 23-year-old man in connection with a murder at the Drill Hall on the corner Plein and Twist streets, Gauteng police said on Sunday.

It was alleged that the man stabbed a 32-year-old man twice in the upper body at about 6pm on Saturday evening, Captain Xoli Mbele said.

The victim apparently argued with the suspect about not smoking drugs in front of the children present. The suspect “insisted and stabbed the deceased”. Paramedics certified him dead at the scene.

Community members apprehended the suspect and contacted the police. Drugs and a knife allegedly used in the stabbing were recovered. A police investigation was under way and the suspect would appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court soon, Mbele said.
