Tonga - Two Mpumalanga men accused of terrorising farmers around Malalane in Mpumalanga will stand trial in the Nelspruit Regional Court in June.

Siyabonga Masilela and Ndumiso Mahlalela, both from Tonga, who have pleaded not guilty to 11 charges each, appeared in the Tonga Magistrate's Court on Thursday, a Sapa correspondent reported.

Magistrate Michael Phiri said the case had been on the court roll for too long without going to trial.

They face 11 charges each, including murder, robbery, armed robbery, housebreaking, theft, robbery with aggravating circumstances, and illegal possession of ammunition.

Thirty-four witnesses were expected to testify during the five-day trial, which would start on June 1, Phiri said.

The two are still in custody. They were previously denied bail when the investigating officer testified that they posed a danger to the public.

Masilela was arrested on February 13, 2014 and Mahlalela on March 13, 2014.
