Durban - A 39-year-old man was arrested in Wentworth on Tuesday for allegedly dealing in drugs and for possession of an unlicensed firearm, KwaZulu-Natal police said.

Police spotted the man on the road and monitored his movements which led them to his home, said police spokesman Captain Thulani Zwane.

“The premises were searched and in the computer tower 1336 mandrax tablets and 417 straws of heroin was found. Members also seized a 38 special revolver from the suspect.”

The man was arrested and charged with dealing in narcotics and for the unlawful possession of an unlicensed firearm.

“The firearm will be sent to ballistics to ascertain whether it was used in the commission of any other crime in the country,” said Zwane.

Operations such as these would help root out the drug trade and remove criminals who did not care about the future of our youth, said KwaZulu-Natal police commissioner Mmamonnye Ngobeni.
