Johannesburg - Seven men charged with vandalising the Dobsonville soccer stadium in Soweto will appear in the Roodepoort Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.

Three of the men handed themselves to police earlier this month. Two of them turned State witness at their last appearance in the Protea Magistrate's Court on October 9.

Six others were arrested on the same day. The seven face charges which include trespassing and malicious damage to property.

They were allegedly part of a group of Mamelodi Sundowns supporters who vandalised the Dobsonville stadium when the team lost 2-0 to Moroka Swallows on September 30.

Sundowns fans broke through the fence at the stadium, stormed the pitch and threw vuvuzelas at coach Johan Neeskens. Three days later the Premier Soccer League laid criminal charges against the fans. - Sapa
