Johannesburg - Two men convicted of assaulting DA members putting up election posters in Shatale, Bushbuckridge, were not ANC members, the party said on Thursday.

“They are not our members, they are not ANC members,” African National Congress regional secretary Mandla Ndlovu said.

The two were sentenced to three months in jail and a R1000 fine by the Bushbuckridge Magistrate's Court, Mpumalanga, on Wednesday.

Democratic Alliance spokesman Phillip Mkhombo has claimed that Lionel Makhubedu and Prayer Mokoena were ANC members.
