Johannesburg - An African National Congress Youth League member, who allegedly hit a journalist over the head with a brick during a scuffle over fake voting cards, will appear in the Polokwane Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.
Clifford Mohloana, 30, appeared in court on January 11 and the case was postponed.
He allegedly assaulted Limpopo-based freelance journalist Chester Makana during the ANC's provincial elective conference in December last year.
Makana had been investigating allegations that duplicate voting tags were being printed at a photocopying shop, shortly before delegates at the conference picked their top five leaders.
Makana alleged that two men stormed out of the shop, grabbed his camera and destroyed his memory card, then chased him. He went to a police station to open a case against his attackers.
Mohloana handed himself over to the police on December 18 after learning that they were looking for him. - Sapa
