Cape Town - The father of slain honeymooner Anni Dewani said on Wednesday he was looking for justice.

“We are in South Africa to ensure my daughter Anni gets the justice she deserves,” Vinod Hindocha told reporters on the steps outside the Western Cape High Court.

Battling to hold back tears, he said it remained difficult to sit in on the trial of one of her alleged killers, Xolile Mngeni, and to listen to what happened the night she was killed.

Convicted killer Mziwamadoda Qwabe testified this week about what happened to Dewani on November 13, 2010, when she was killed in an apparent hijacking in Gugulethu, while on honeymoon with her husband Shrien.

“One glimpse of happiness was that he (Qwabe) never said, at any point, that my daughter was abused and that was something that really relieved...,” Hindocha said. He did not finish the sentence because he was too emotional.

He thanked South Africans for their support. His niece, Nishma Hindocha, kept a protective arm around him while he spoke.

The trial continues on Thursday. - Sapa
