Malamulele - Another school was set alight at weekend in the new Limpopo municipality, police said.

Three classrooms and a staff room of Humula Secondary School were destroyed by the fire at Mukhomi village near Malamulele.

Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo said police were alerted at about 02:30 on Sunday morning about the suspected arson attack.

Fire fighters extinguished the fire before it could cause further damage.

He said the motive for the incident is not known and no arrests effected for now.

Earlier in the year more than 20 schools in the area were torched during protests against the formation of the new municipality.
